Yes, our last year at Sixth Form College is both very busy and very important.
If you have followed my previous guidelines then you will have stood yourself in good stead for University. Once you have got the ball rolling and
certain Universities have accepted you, you must start to organise yourself for the upcoming year.
You have already visited the place(s) you want to study at, and hence made an INFORMED decision on your future. Visit it again, get more familiar
with the surroundings and where things are.
Accommodation – Begin to look at University Halls of Residence. Decide where you want to stay. Look at accommodation application
deadlines and make sure you get your application in as early as possible. See where your halls are near, and not near. You know what they say,
location, location, location, so try to choose somewhere most importantly near the Uni, and also near the city/town centre and near the local
student social scene. Small details can be important, for example some of my friends at the University of Manchester stayed in halls which were near
to the local hospital, the noise from the ambulances proved very disruptive during exam periods etc.
I would say to you, try to get halls that are close to your University as you will be more likely to attend all of your tutorials and classes, although
there is rarely any excuse not to! Apply to Halls as early as possible to increase the chances of getting the ones that you want to stay in.
